Industry praises Meier’s support for responsible mineral development and Wyoming’s economy

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Mining Association (WMA) has endorsed State Treasurer Curt Meier for re-election, citing his longstanding support for Wyoming’s mining industry and his proven record of responsible fiscal stewardship.

The endorsement reflects the Association’s confidence in Meier’s leadership and his commitment to policies that strengthen Wyoming’s economy while protecting the industries that have helped build the state.

“When mining and industry thrive, Wyoming thrives,” the Wyoming Mining Association said in announcing its endorsement. “Curt Meier is a proven supporter of responsible mineral development, and WMA is proud to endorse him for re-election as Wyoming State Treasurer.”

Meier said he is honored to receive the endorsement from one of Wyoming’s most respected industry organizations.

“Mining has been one of the cornerstones of Wyoming’s economy for generations,” Meier said. “The men and women who work in Wyoming’s mines provide the resources that power our nation, create thousands of good-paying jobs and generate the revenue that supports schools, local governments and essential public services. I am grateful for the Wyoming Mining Association’s confidence and proud to stand with an industry that has done so much to build our state.”

Meier said Wyoming’s natural resources and prudent financial management go hand in hand.

“For decades, Wyoming has been blessed with extraordinary natural resources,” he said. “My responsibility as State Treasurer is to ensure the wealth those resources generate is invested wisely so it continues benefiting Wyoming families long after the minerals leave the ground. Every investment dollar we earn is another dollar that doesn’t have to come from taxpayers.”

During Meier’s tenure as State Treasurer, Wyoming’s investment earnings became the state’s largest source of revenue for the first time in history. According to the Consensus Revenue Estimating Group, the state generated nearly $1.9 billion in investment earnings last year, surpassing traditional mineral revenues and sales taxes as Wyoming’s leading source of income.

His administration has also returned record amounts of unclaimed property to its rightful owners, delivering more than $72 million back to dcitizens and businesses during the past two fiscal years.

Before being elected State Treasurer, Meier served more than two decades in the Wyoming Legislature, where he consistently supported responsible mineral development, private property rights and policies that strengthened Wyoming’s economy while defending the state’s sovereignty. Throughout his public service, he has emphasized his commitment to faithfully uphold the Constitutions of the United States and Wyoming and the oath of office entrusted to him by the people.

Founded in 1956, the Wyoming Mining Association serves as the voice of Wyoming’s mining industry, representing companies engaged in the production of coal, trona, bentonite, uranium, rare earth minerals and other natural resources. The Association advocates for policies that encourage responsible mineral development, economic growth and a strong business climate while supporting one of Wyoming’s largest and most important industries.

The Wyoming Primary Election will be held Tuesday, Aug. 18.
