A Lifetime of Work, Service, and Wyoming Values
Curt Meier’s story begins on a Wyoming farm, where he learned early the values of hard work, personal responsibility, and living within your means. Those principles have shaped every step of his life – from business to public service – and continue to guide how he manages Wyoming’s finances today.
Raised in rural Wyoming, Curt carried those early lessons with him to the University of Wyoming, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science on an academic scholarship. His education deepened his understanding of agriculture, business, and practical decision-making – skills that would shape both his career and his approach to leadership.
He went on to build and operate a successful agricultural business, managing thousands of irrigated acres while adapting to changing markets. Through that experience, Curt developed a clear understanding of risk – and how to manage it responsibly.
“You want to make as much money as you can, but you don’t ever want to risk the farm.”
Curt and his wife Charlene have spent their lives in Wyoming, raising their family and serving their community. They believe it’s the best place in the world to live, work, and raise a family – and they are committed to keeping it that way.
Public Service & Leadership
Curt later brought that same disciplined mindset to public service, serving more than two decades in the Wyoming State Senate. Known as a careful steward of taxpayer dollars, he consistently prioritized funding essential needs before wants—always focused on long-term financial stability over short-term gain.
Key Leadership Roles:
- Joint Appropriations Committee (8 years)
- State Retirement Board Liaison (longest-serving member)
- Chairman, Transportation, Highways & Military Affairs
- Chairman, Corporations Committee
Today, as Wyoming’s State Treasurer, Curt applies that same approach—carefully managing the state’s finances with a focus on stability, responsibility, and long-term growth.
