Wyoming L.E.A.D. Recognizes State Treasurer Curt Meier as Outstanding Alumni

Longtime agricultural leader honored by Wyoming’s premier rural leadership development program

Cheyenne, Wyo. — Wyoming State Treasurer Curt Meier has been recognized as an Outstanding Alumni by Wyoming L.E.A.D. (Leadership Education and Development), the state’s oldest statewide adult leadership training program.

Meier, a member of Wyoming L.E.A.D. Class 2, was featured as the Outstanding Alum in the May 2026 edition of the organization’s official publication, Lead On. The newsletter highlighted Meier’s service as Wyoming State Treasurer and former legislator and described him as “a dedicated contributor to Wyoming LEAD.”

Founded in 1984, Wyoming L.E.A.D. develops agricultural and rural leaders through an intensive program of in-state seminars, national study experiences and leadership training. The program is administered by the Wyoming Agricultural Leadership Council and is widely recognized as one of the state’s premier leadership development programs.

Meier said he was honored by the recognition.

“Wyoming L.E.A.D. has helped develop generations of leaders who have gone on to serve their communities, their industries and their state,” Meier said. “I am grateful for the opportunities the program provided me and proud to be associated with an organization that continues investing in Wyoming’s greatest resource—its people. Developing the next generation of agricultural and community leaders is essential to Wyoming’s future.”

The recognition comes from one of Wyoming’s most respected agricultural leadership organizations. Since its founding in 1984, Wyoming L.E.A.D. has graduated more than 280 agricultural and rural leaders through 18 classes. According to the organization, 89% of its alumni have been elected or appointed to public office, 84% have served as officers or directors of agricultural organizations and commissions, and 83% remain actively involved in local and state agricultural and community organizations. 

The program’s mission is to develop leaders who can “speak forcefully and articulately for agriculture and Wyoming communities.”

As a lifelong Wyoming ag producer, businessman and public servant, Meier has spent decades advocating for Wyoming agriculture and rural communities. Before being elected State Treasurer, he served more than two decades in the Wyoming Legislature. He has served as State Treasurer since 2019.

During his tenure as Treasurer, Wyoming’s investment earnings became the state’s largest source of revenue for the first time in history, generating nearly $1.9 billion last year. His office has also returned record amounts of unclaimed property to Wyoming citizens and businesses.

Meier said leadership development remains critical to Wyoming’s future.

“Our state’s greatest strength has always been its people,” Meier said. “Whether they’re leading an agricultural operation, a local business, a community organization or serving in public office, Wyoming needs men and women who understand our values, our economy and our way of life. I’m grateful that programs like Wyoming L.E.A.D. continue preparing the next generation to carry that responsibility forward.”
