Meier Earns Endorsement from Wyoming Coalition for a Healthy Retirement

Organization representing nearly 70,000 working and retired public employees cites Meier’s steady leadership and commitment to retirement security
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Wyoming State Treasurer Curt Meier has earned the endorsement of the Wyoming Coalition for a Healthy Retirement (WCHR), a statewide organization representing nearly 70,000 working and retired public employees committed to protecting the long-term strength of the Wyoming Retirement System.
The endorsement was approved unanimously by the coalition’s board following a review of Meier’s record of public service, leadership, public statements and commitment to Wyoming’s public employees, retirees and retirement security.
“Treasurer Meier has earned WCHR’s endorsement through years of dedicated public service and his consistent support for Wyoming’s public employees, retirees, firefighters and the Wyoming Retirement System,” said WCHR Executive Director Ron Sniffin. “As Wyoming’s State Treasurer and an ex officio member of the Wyoming Retirement System Board of Directors, he has demonstrated thoughtful leadership and a commitment to protecting the long-term financial strength of the retirement system. We appreciate Treasurer Meier’s experience, steady leadership and understanding of the importance of maintaining a strong and sustainable retirement system for current and future public employees.”
Meier said he is honored to receive the endorsement from an organization that represents thousands of Wyoming men and women who have dedicated their careers to serving the public.
“I am grateful for the confidence the Wyoming Coalition for a Healthy Retirement has placed in me,” Meier said. “The retirement security of Wyoming’s public employees is one of the most important responsibilities entrusted to the State Treasurer. The teachers, law enforcement officers, firefighters, highway workers and countless other public servants who have devoted their careers to Wyoming deserve a retirement system that is well-managed, financially sound and positioned for long-term success.”
As Wyoming State Treasurer, Meier serves as an ex officio member of the Wyoming Retirement System Board of Directors, helping oversee one of the state’s largest public trust funds. During his tenure, the assets managed by the Treasurer’s Office have grown from approximately $20 billion to more than $34 billion, while investment earnings generated a historic $1.857 billion for Wyoming’s budget last year, becoming the state’s largest single source of revenue for the first time in state history.
Meier said the same disciplined investment philosophy that has strengthened Wyoming’s finances also guides his work on behalf of the retirement system.
“My responsibility is to protect the financial interests of the people who depend on these investments today while ensuring the system remains strong for the generations that follow,” Meier said. “That means focusing on prudent, long-term investment management, responsible risk oversight and always remembering that we are stewards of the retirement savings earned by Wyoming’s public employees.”
The Wyoming Coalition for a Healthy Retirement represents nearly 70,000 working and retired Wyoming public employees from communities across the state. The organization advocates for policies that strengthen retirement security and ensure the long-term sustainability of the Wyoming Retirement System. Its endorsements are earned through a review of candidates’ records, leadership and demonstrated commitment to issues affecting Wyoming’s public employees and retirees.
Meier is seeking re-election in the Aug. 18 Republican Primary.
